Consultations & Counseling |
| Initial Assessment and Consultation |

Your first visit to Bridge is a very important one and we aim to use your time with us as appropriately and effectively as possible. You should plan to be at Bridge for about two hours, during which time you will see a Fertility Specialist, our Genetics Counsellor and a member of your Care Team who will review your Registration Form and Medical History and ensure that we have all the information you are able to supply.
For patients with a previous treatment history we will, if your detailed medical records are available, arrange your initial scan, blood tests and a semen analysis. If we are able to do this, it should be possible to proceed directly to treatment without a Follow-up Consultation.
After the Fertility Specialist has planned your treatment, the nurses like to give you a briefing on what your treatment will entail. This may also include a pre-op assessment to assess suitability for our Day Care Unit. Your appointment for this can be made after the Fertility Specialist has planned your treatment. If you need to come for a Follow-up Appointment, we will try to co-ordinate these two appointments to minimise the number of times you visit the centre. Please make it clear to our staff if you would like the Follow-up and the Nurse Briefing to be booked for the same visit. |

| We will review the results of the tests completed, advise if any further tests or procedures are necessary, explain your treatment options and agree a treatment plan with you.
Appointments for Initial and Follow-up Consultations will be confirmed upon receipt of payment, which can be made simply by credit card over the telephone at the time of the booking. Payments in cash should be received by Patient Accounts at least forty-eight hours prior to the appointment made. We only accept cheques drawn on UK banks which are consistent with a valid cheque guarantee card issued for the same account – and we require five full working days to ensure clearance.

Private Health Insurance and Third Party Payment
As noted above, all fees payable to Bridge must be paid in advance. This is the case even if a third party or any insurance company may be liable to reimburse, or otherwise pay, such amounts. Bridge will arrange for any claim forms to be signed in order to assist in reclaiming any amounts due from an insurance company, or any third party. Please discuss this with one of our Patient Accounts Managers who will assist you as appropriate.

of Abbreviations and Terms used in this Document: |
- IVF - in vitro fertilisation
|
- ICSI - intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection
(injection of sperm into
egg).
|
- IVF+ICSI - because ICSI cannot exist without IVF, the term 'ICSI'
is commonly used to encompass both the procedures of IVF and ICSI. In
this document the procedures have been listed separately in order to explain
the costings.

- PGS - pre-implantation genetic screening
|
- PGD - pre-implantation genetic diagnosis
|
- Cryopreservation - the process of freezing and storing tissue at optimal
temperatures.

- Biopsy - the extraction of a small sample for the purposes of laboratory
analysis for a tissue diagnosis.
